Vicki Israel

My love for clay first started when I took a ceramics class in high school. I went on to college majoring in Ceramics and received my BFA in Crafts from the Philadelphia College of Art (now University of the Arts). Then came marriage, kids and a 30 year career as an elementary art teacher.

My work incorporates the many processes I used in my teaching; color, shape, line and texture.  I construct each piece using hand building techniques. I enjoy exploring form, using surface decoration and texture as integral parts of my work. I'm inspired by nature as well as the urban landscape.  My pieces are functional, yet decorative.
